Ink Club Success!

Last night was our first meeting of Ink Club, an experiment I wanted to try to get people in the local arts community together to be productive under the pressure of their peers. We had twenty-two artists and writers come out for our inaugural event.

We met, had social time, then got to work in a quiet, supportive environment. Forty-five minutes later we stopped for a fifteen minute break for a bit more socializing, then back to work for another forty-five minutes. At the end of the second working session, a lot of people wanted to keep going, so I think that’s a good sign.

The vibe was fabulous, just what I’d hoped for and lots of participants have commented on how great it was. We’re definitely going to make this a regular meet up!

Thanks to Gian for the use of La Fontana Cafe and to Sam for all her help and support of this new venture.

And so, Ink Club begins…

  1. Sounds like a rousing success. Congratulations!

  2. Glad you had such a great turn-out. I’ve been attending weekly write-ins in Seattle for maybe 5 years now, and I always find them to be great motivators!

  3. I also like these sorts of events because they can be entirely inclusive and welcoming in a way that crit groups often aren’t.
