World Fantasy Convention

I haven’t posted for over a week, but with good excuse. I was in San Jose at the World Fantasy Convention, and it’s taken me four days to recover. That just about explains it, doesn’t it?!!

I had an amazing time, learned lots, met incredible people, and even got to do a reading of my short story coming out in Evolve next year at the Edge Publishing party. I will be doing a write up for Adventures in SciFi Publishing about the experience this year as a "soon to be published author", versus my first time going to the convention last year. I’ll post a link to that when it’s online.

Here’s a couple of pics from the weekend:

Gabrielle from Dragon Moon Press

Brian and Janis from Edge Publishing/Hades Publications

The stylin’ duo of Rob Bland and John Joseph Adams (up for a World Fantasy award for his Zombie anthology)

My new "tribe", this is after my reading.Brian, Rob, Erica, Carrie, Me, Christie and John

My big moment, reading my short story! 🙂

  1. Great pics and I’m looking forward to your review. How did your reading go? Looks like you were enjoying yourself. 🙂

  2. I am really sorry that we didn’t intersect. I blame the jet lag.
I’m glad your reading went well.

  3. Sounds like an awesome event. Look forward to viewing the link 🙂

  4. Glad you had a good time. I’m sure your reading was well-received 🙂

  5. The reading went great, thanks. Lots of compliments from fellow authors and overall good feedback. I was a little overwhelmed after, as in, “omg, this was my first ever reading!” LOL

  6. Thank you. I better get the write up finished!

  7. Thanks, it went really well. Lots of positive feedback. Now I’m pumped to finish this, what shall I call it, this tulmultuous third draft of my novel!

  8. Great to meet you at WFC and talk sword & sorcery. Sorry I didn’t make it to your reading.

  9. It was great to meet you too! You’ll have to explain your livejournal username to me..thank goodness I didn’t really talk sword and sorcery with anyone else that weekend, cuz I knew right away who it was!! LOL. Seriously!
Hope you’re doing well, it took me about 5 days to recover. All the best with HFQ!

  10. Ah, the LJ handle is a secret. A tip-of-the-hat to an obscure reference to a classic of the genre. Someday (soon) I’ll get off my duff and actually make a real website and LJ with my real name and all that.
My vacation and the WFC left me in no condition to do any work for the first two or three days after I got back home.
